SAPS clampdown on crime, arrest 30 suspects, East London

Police in Mdantsane Cluster arrested 30 suspects for various crimes during Operation Tropical Storm over the weekend of 28 April 2019.

These suspects were nabbed for crimes like, drunken driving, rape, dealing in drugs, house robbery, murder, house breaking and theft, contravening of protection order, theft, malicious damage to property, theft of motor vehicle, possession of suspected stolen goods, shoplifting to mention but a few.

Six of these suspects were arrested for drunken driving in and around the Mdantsane Cluster. These areas includes, Mdantsane, Vulindlela, Inyibiba, Cambridge, Berlin, Macleantown, Bluewater, Mooiplaas, Kei Mouth and Komga.

Dangerous weapons, including knives and pangas were confiscated during stop and search operations. This was aimed at preventing unnecessary murders.

The ages of the suspects ranges between 20 and 48 years old respectively.

These suspects are due to appear in different Magistrates’ Courts around Buffalo City for various charges soon.
