A joint operation was conducted by members of East London Crime Prevention, Flying Squad, POP, K9 Unit and detectives where they arrested a male suspect for possession of 17 Mandrax tablets at Wosley Street, North End.

They also closed six taverns for non-compliance at Quigney, Southernwood and North End. A black pistol with a broken trigger was recovered and one male suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm as per Duncan Village case.

A 49 year old male suspect was also arrested at Kalkeni Location for attempted rape of a 19 year old female.

People were searched and nine knives were confiscated. A replica firearm was recovered and two male suspects was arrested after a business robbery took place at Nompumelelo informal settlement.

The members also conducted Vehicle Check Points in Quigney, CBD and Southernwood and six people were arrested for driving under the influence.

All suspects will appear in court soon.
