A swift intelligence driven operation was conducted by Mdantsane Crime Intelligence and OCC members last night, 15 August 2018, in Duncan Village area.

Mdantsane OCC and Crime intelligence members followed up on information of a police firearm that was robbed where they went to C section in Duncan Village and managed to recover a 9mm pistol with eleven live rounds of ammunition. Three male suspects, aged between 18 and 25 were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

A Winchester 303 hunting rifle with eleven live rounds and seven R5 live rounds of ammunition was also recovered at Tsenego Street in Duncan Village. A 25 year old male suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The rifle has been linked to a Kei Mouth house breaking case.

A Norinco 9mm pistol with five live rounds and one cartridge was also recovered at NU1 Mdantsane and a 25 year old male suspect was arrested after it was discovered that the suspect stole the firearm from his mother who has no safe at home.

A 28 year old man was also arrested for possession of dagga.

Four suspects will appear in the East London Magistrate Court and the other two at Mdantsane Magistrate Court on 17 August 2018.
