The High Court in Graaff Reinet sentenced a 26 year old Accused to life imprisonment for rape and sexual assault of two minor girls. The sentences will run concurrently.
It is alleged that on the 22 December 2016 the accused lured two eleven year old children to a vacant premises in the Lingelihle locality and forced them to drink alcohol. He then took one of the victims to his room and raped her and then took the second victim to the backyard of another house in the same street where she was also raped her.
Through thorough investigation, the suspect was traced and arrested with the assistance of members from the Highway patrol and K9 unit.
The Graaff Reinet Cluster Commander, Brigadier Madoda Zamkana commended the Investigation Office, Detective Constable Monica Bouwer for her relentless efforts to ensure that perpetrators who preyed against vulnerable members in our communities are brought to book.
“This sentence has ensured that justice has been served and the suspect will be in prison for a very long time,” said Brigadier Zamakana.
