A 56 year old male was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment at the Grahamstown High Court on 15 November 2018. The ruthless felon Makwedini Skoluku was given the lengthy sentenced after he had lured a 5 year old child from her grandmother’s house offering her and her friends money to purchase snacks at a shop.
Skoluku kept the victim behind as the others went to the shop. He then took the victim to his place of residence where he brutally raped her. After a while when her friends returned and called out for the victim and the accused refused to open the door. He gave her money to keep her quiet.
Port Alfred Cluster Commander Brigadier Morgan Govender commended investigating officer Constable Sandra Catherine of the Port Alfred Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offence unit for the meticulous and diligent investigation conducted in ensuring the successful conviction and lengthy sentencing of the accused.
