The Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier John Lebok has welcomed the life sentence that was handed down on Friday 5 April 2019, by the Joubertina Regional Court in a rape case that occurred during June 2014.
The accused, a 46 year old man, who is related to the 16 year old victim, was sentenced to life imprisonment. The victim reported the incident to the South African Police Service in 2017 and the accused was arrested soon afterwards. The accused was found guilty on a charge of rape on 15 February 2019 and effectively sentenced today.
Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier John Lebok commended the investigating officers from the Humansdorp Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, as well as the Joubertina Regional Court for the effective sentencing that was handed down.
