A case of rape was registered at Dutywa Police Station. The case was then handed over to Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS). The accused was traced and arrested.

Eastern Cape Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Liziwe Ntshinga has welcomed the conviction and sentence of the accused. She appealed to all the women and children who are being abused to break the silence.
