R43k worth of mohair stolen from Willowmore farm – response sees 3 arrested

Swift response to information by Willowmore Vispol, Crime Prevention, Standby Detective and the Rural Safety Coordinator lead to the arrest of three suspects 19, 37, 38 years of age and the recovery of 108,5 kg of mohair allegedly stolen from a farm in the Willowmore district.

It is alleged that on Monday 30 August 2021 at about 04:30 Willowmore Vispol members received information that suspects who were involved in the theft of Mohair during the evening of Friday 27 August 2021, on the farm in Willowmore District, were again in Willowmore farming district and were travelling in a white Ford Bantam bakkie.

Soon after responding to the information the members found the bakkie on a gravel road, 45 km from Willowmore. On searching the vehicle the members recovered mohair (108,5 kg) with the estimated value of R43 400-00.

The three suspects were arrested on possession of suspected stolen property and are due to appear before Willowmore Magistrates’ Court soon.

Willowmore Acting Station Commander Captain Herman Smith applauded all the members for their immediate response to the information, the successful recovery of the suspected stolen mohair and the arrest of the three suspects.
