The Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team of the Hawks in East London arrested Malusi Aaron Mgqwetho (47) and Bongani Mgqwetho (54) for alleged charges of contravention of Section 234 (p) of the Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011 on Friday, 19 March 2021.
It is alleged that between 2016 and 2019 Malusi and Bongani as Directors of Buruma Security and Cleaning Services failed to pay the Pay as You Earn (PAYE) and Value Added Tax to South African Revenue Services (SARS).
It is reported that the said conduct made SARS run at a loss of more than R1,8 million.
The duo appeared shortly in East London Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 19 March 2021, and is out on warning.
The case is remanded to 20 of April 2021 in East London Regional court.
