Uitenhage police arrested three men and confiscated 50 kilograms of dagga worth R150 000 from a vehicle on route on the R75 near Uitenhage on 12 May 2020.

Around 03:45, it is alleged that a police vehicle that was conducting routine patrols on the R75 near Uitenhage pulled off a red Mazda to monitor compliance with the Lockdown regulations. The three occupants who said that they were headed for Kirkwood were found in possession of two bags of dagga and with no reason to be traveling at that time. Police arrested the trio and also seized 50 kilograms of dagga. A vehicle was also confiscated with a possibility of it being forfeited to the State.

The three men aged between 28 and 54 are due to appear due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 13 May 2020, on charges of dealing in dagga with an additional charge of contravening the Disaster Management Act.
