The FF Plus on 9 September 2022, submitted a request to the Public Accounts Committee of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro Council (NMBM) asking for a report from the city manager, Dr Noxolo Nqwazi, on the amount that the Metro has spent thus far on the court cases of the Mayor, Eugene Johnson.
Johnson has approached the court for a second time in a very short while in a bid to prevent the Metro Council from tabling a motion of no confidence in her.
The ANC must not keep squandering NMBM residents’ tax money on senseless court cases in an attempt to retain power over the Metro.
NMBM taxpayers deserve a Metro that offers basic service delivery and maintains critical infrastructure, and not a Metro that squanders their hard-earned money on petty politicking.
The FF Plus will keep fighting for Metro residents’ right to an effective government that puts their interests first.
