Post office armed robbery foiled, 4 suspects arrested, Maclear

Maclear police successfully foiled suspected armed robbery of a post office on Friday 12 July 2019, after receiving information regarding suspicious looking men at the local post office in Maclear.

On following up on the information, they arrested four suspects aged between 27 and 35, one for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and the other three for questioning.

An investigation is underway to establish the possibility that the arrested suspects could have been involved in robberies that occurred in the area recently. Their identities cannot be revealed at this stage until their court appearance in Maclear Magistrates’ Court on Monday 15 July 2019.

All four suspects are currently in police custody as part of the investigation and one will be charged for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Possible charges might be added on others as part of the ongoing investigations.
