Once upon a time, more than a quarter of a century ago, Port St John was a lovely tourist town on the East Coast of South Africa…a place of breathtaking beauty, scenes of nature to inspire the artist and orderly, maintained lovely buildings speaking of a proud history and a bright future.

And then African democracy arrived….
