On the night of 15 May 2019, at about 21:00, members of SAPS Flying squad followed up on information of an unlicensed firearm being kept in a shop in Ingwe Street, NU1, Motherwell.

Upon searching the shop, a .38 revolver with 3 rounds of ammunition was found hidden in a clothing basket inside the shop. Two male suspects aged 46 and 31 years old were arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Upon further investigation it was discovered that the firearm was reported stolen in Port Alfred during October 2018.

Both suspects will appear before the Motherwell Magistrates Court on Friday 17 May 2019.
