Police are investigating two business robberies where one a man was fatally shot in Uitenhage yesterday.

In the first incident, on Wednesday, 12 July 2017 around 18:50, a man was fatally shot, after two men, one with a firearm allegedly stormed into Friendly Mini Market in Single Oak Street, Uitenhage.

A shop assistant, Melkamu Kelbore (28) was fatally shot during the incident. It is believed that the suspects stole undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene.

In another incident, on Wednesday, 12 July 2017 around 18:30, King Spaza Shop was robbed of cash in Kamesh, Uitenhage. It is alleged that two men, one armed with a firearm entered a shop and held an owner at gunpoint.

A complainant alleged that the men stole cash, two cell phones and cigarettes before fleeing in a white Ford Fiesta with Gauteng registration number plates. One shot was fired during the incident, but no person was injured.

Police are looking at all possibilities and also urging anyone with information, that could lead to the arrest of the suspects, to share information via Crime Stop 08600 10111 or Crime Line 32211.
