A 30-year-old police Constable is in custody following the alleged murder of his girlfriend, early this evening in Algoa Park.
It is alleged that at about 17:05, the Constable who was on vacation leave was embroiled in an argument with his girlfriend at their flat when shots were heard. She was fatally wounded and the Constable handed himself over after his commanders and the hostage negotiator successfully managed to subdue him.
The deceased girlfriend is approximately 35-years-old. Name is withheld until a formal identification is done.
A case of murder is under investigation, and he is expected to appear in court soon.
