Police Arrest Man for Possession of Suspected Stolen Cattle

Qumbu police arrested a 27-year-old male suspect at Mjikweni locality, Ngcolokini Administrative Area, on Thursday, 16 April 2026, at approximately 15:00. The arrest relates to the possession of fifteen cattle suspected to be stolen.

Police acted on information received concerning a man tending to cattle in a grazing field in Mjikweni locality. The cattle were alleged to have been stolen in Sulenkama. Officers approached the individual and recovered fifteen mixed cattle with an estimated total value of R180,000.00.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. He is scheduled to appear before the Qumbu Magistrates Court on Friday, 17 April 2026, on charges of contravening the Stock Theft Act 57 of 1959.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet located the lawful owner of the livestock.
