The Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga commended the members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit for their relentless efforts in tracing the perpetrators involved in the brutal murders of two women in Peddie in April 2020.

It is alleged that on Sunday, 12 April 2020 at about 15:00 Mrs Boniswa Toba (74) and her daughter in law Cingiswa Caroline Toba (37) were found brutally murdered in Celetyuma village in Peddie. Both women sustained multiple stab wounds. The deceased cellphones as well as other household items were also taken.

The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit was investigating the double murder and robbery. During investigation it was revealed that a suspicious Audi A3 was spotted at Celetyuma village where the incident took place.

Investigations led the team of detectives to New Brighton in Port Elizabeth and on Friday 24 April 2020, four suspects (3 males and a woman) aged between 20-57 years were arrested at different houses in the New Brighton area.

They are detained on charges of double murder and robbery and will appear in the Peddie Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 28 April 2020.

Lt Gen Ntshinga praised the team for their arrests and reiterated that, ‘this is a warning to criminals who think that they can escape arrest for their heinous deeds. We have experienced, committed and dedicated police officers in our Province and it is only a matter of time before their (criminals) time are up and their freedom short lived. The senseless attacks on the vulnerable, cannot be tolerated and every effort must be made to ensure that perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice.’
