It is alleged that at about 19:45, on the evening of 19 February 2020, a metro ambulance was on its way to a call-out in Vastrap and was travelling on Stanford Road near Qunu area when a petrol bomb was thrown through the window of the ambulance.

Protestors were also running alongside the vehicle. The driver and his crew jumped out and ran away. The vehicle burned out. Another ambulance was on its way to assist their colleagues when it was also pelted with stones and damaged in the process. No one was injured. Cases of Malicious damage to property is currently been opened.

In another incident, in the same area, a courier Isuzu bakkie was hijacked by protestors and set alight.

It is alleged that at about 19:50, the driver was dropping off staff at home when the vehicle was pelted with stones in William Slammert Drive. The occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The vehicle was driven away by the protestors and set alight. A case of vehicle hijacking is currently been opened.

The area is very dark and the protestors are hiding in the bushes. Public Order Policing are in the area and are monitoring the situation. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and to use alternative routes.
