Festive season operations in the Nelson Mandela Metro are making sure that criminals will not spoil the festive spirit of locals and visitors alike. Beaches, shopping malls and hot spot areas are buzzing with police, other law enforcement officers (Metro Police) and security companies.

PE K9 and Flying Squad members arrested two suspects at about 11:30 on 23 December 2017.

Members responded to a call of an attempted hijacking near Uitenhage Road in Missionvale. Information regarding alleged suspects were followed up and two suspects were arrested and detained for possession of drugs. Tik (204 units), mandrax (182 tablets) and dagga was confiscated.

The estimated street value of the drugs is about R23 000. Suspects will appear in court on Tuesday, 27 December 2017.

Our men and women in blue are out in their numbers and an appeal is made to the community that while reveling in the festive mood, they should be responsible and ensure that their behavior especially on the beaches is within the confines of the law.

People drinking should NOT be driving and place the lives of other innocent people at risk.
