Criminal attacks perpetrated against the elderly is a concern and police will be embarking on social crime prevention initiatives to educate and empower the elderly/senior citizens against crime.

In the last two days, in separate incidents two elderly couples were attacked and robbed in their homes in the Seaview /Colleen Glen area in Kabega Park.

In the latest incident, the elderly couple were accosted by two men, one with a panga and the iron rod. According to police information, on Monday, 5 February 2018, at about 20:30, the 74 year old resident was busy outside his house when the two suspects appeared.

He was threatened and taken inside the house. The suspects assaulted him and his wife (70) with a panga. Jewellery, a cell phone and a firearm was taken. The couple were taken to hospital for treatment and was discharged.

Police are investigating a case of house robbery. Police are advising elderly persons to become more security conscious as they are more vulnerable to attacks and are easy targets for criminals.
