The ongoing incidents of rape and abuse of young children necessitates ongoing awareness and safety talks.

Since the beginning of February 2019, several cases have been reported where the victims are aged between the ages of 12 to 14. One suspect a 25 year old male has been arrested and remanded in custody until the 22 February. The remaining cases are still under investigation and with the public prosecutor.

The members of the Port Alfred Cluster FCS unit held a campaign at the Kuyasa Combined School to address the affliction of rape and abuse of children that is plaguing the community.

During the visit the children were educated on how to keep themselves safe, and not to be afraid to say No! Children were also made aware on the abuse of alcohol and drugs which is a major contributing factor to the raped.
