Ensuring the safety and security of our citizens is a priority for every police official irrespective of whether such official is on or off duty. When a crime is reported, a police officer must act to ensure a speedy arrest.
On Friday, 28 September 2018, a Mount Road police officer while still on her way to work arrested two suspects on charges of robbery. It is alleged that the police woman noticed the robbery of a person and responded.
She managed to arrest one suspect and the second suspect pulled something from his waist. The police Sergeant fired one shot injuring the suspect in the leg.
Both were arrested and the stolen property recovered.
Mount Road Cluster Commander, Major General Thembisile Patekile commended the female officer for responding to her vocation and effecting the arrests.
