Zolisa Mthwetefa (26) was sentenced today in the Port Elizabeth magistrates court on 9 counts of business robberies committed between 2014 and 2016.

Mthwetefa was arrested by D/Const Ridwaan Baatjies of SAPS Humewood detectives in January 2017 and he remained in custody until the finalisation of his cases. He was positively linked to the robberies committed In the Humewood and Gelvandale areas.

In December 2018 he was found guilty and today he was sentenced on all nine cases. On each case he was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, five counts will run concurrent to the sentencing while the other four will also run concurrent to the sentencing of 15 years therefore in total he will be serving 30 years in prison.

Acting Cluster Commander for Mount Road, Brig Andrew Louw has commended the detective for his sterling investigation in these cases. “Thorough investigation ensured that this criminal remained in custody until his sentencing. Harsh sentences such as this will keep criminals behind bars for a long time” added Brig Louw.
