A 29-year-old man is set to appear in the Ngcobo Magistrate’s Court today, Tuesday, 02 September 2025, facing a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm. His arrest has also connected him to a separate murder case, for which he will be processed to appear in court on Wednesday, 03 September 2025.
The arrest occurred on Monday evening, 01 September 2025, at approximately 19:00. According to police reports, members of the Ngcobo Crime Prevention Unit were conducting routine patrols in the Central Business District when they received a tip about an individual in possession of an illegal firearm.
The officers immediately proceeded to the specified location, where they identified and approached a person matching the description provided. A search led to the discovery and confiscation of an unlicensed silver firearm, resulting in the suspect’s immediate arrest on the scene.
A subsequent preliminary investigation by police revealed a significant breakthrough, linking the same suspect to a murder incident that occurred in the Cobosi Administration Area in August 2025.
