New Brighton police today embarked on a special project to support the family of a murder and rape victim. This followed after the body of 59 year old Nomatile Agnes Jantjies was found at 07:00 on 17 March 2019, at her home in Ntoyakhe Street, Kwazakhele.

A murder and rape case was opened by Kwazakhele police and it is suspected that she was raped and strangled.

The New Brighton police including the sector managers, community police forum and community police officers on 22 March 2019, took several foodstuffs and grocery items to the family of the victim to show humanitarian support by SAPS.

A group of about 300 local community joined SAPS in the street with songs and praises.

The groceries and foods were donated by various sponsors which included Boxer, Spar, Shoprite and U-Save.
