East London was abuzz yesterday with the National Commissioner, General Khehla Sitole, Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga together with senior SAPS Management leading from the front during Safer Festive Season Operations.

The operation started at 11:00 on 11 January 2018, with specific areas cordoned off and continued till late with a walk-about at Eastern Beach.

All law enforcement agencies played their role and several suspects were taken into custody, fines issued and suspected stolen properties confiscated.

All confiscated property has been booked at SAPS as evidence and all arrested suspects will appear in court.

Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga said last night,” Congratulations to all the officers and members who are making every effort to make our community a safer place. Every contribution assists us in reaching our vision. Continue to gain the trust of our communities with your efforts and together we can win this war against crime!”

“We are now nearing the end of the Safer Festive Season Operations and we have managed to stabilise a number of areas including hot spots. We are not going to give criminals a rest, as we close the Safer Festive Season Operations, within 7 days Operation Fiela will start and we will be firing from all cylinders continuously throughout the Easter Holiday and we are going to sustain high density policing throughout the year right up to the next festive season”, said National Commissioner, Gen Khehla Sitole yesterday afternoon.

Operations continue today at Mdantsane Cluster.
