Swift investigation by Mzamba detective officers led to the arrest of a 27-year-old alleged murder suspect and the confiscation of the murder weapon on the afternoon of 9 October 2021.
It is alleged that on Friday evening, 8 October 2021, Sphesihle Dumsi (23) visited relatives in Lugwinjini Location in Mzamba. Dumsi and his cousins went to the local tavern to have drinks.
During the course of the night, Dumsi disappeared and his cousins had left without him, assuming that he had gone home.
On the morning of 9 October 2021 at about 05:30, his semi-naked body was found behind the tavern. He sustained a stab wound on his chest. A pair of blue women’s sandals were found next to his body. Dumsi was from Gumzana location.
At about 16:00, this afternoon, the hunt by detective members ended when he was arrested at a car wash in in Lugwinjini.
The suspect is expected to appear in court on Monday, 11 October 2021.
