A joint effort by Crime Intelligence, the Tactical Response Team and SAPS Jeffreys Bay police members, landed a 28-year-old murder suspect was behind bars shortly after a murder that took place on the same day, 23 February 2024.
It is alleged that at about 10:00, the suspect entered the yard of a house in Ocean View in Jeffrey’s Bay where the victim and two men were standing at the back of the house engaged in a conversation. The suspect who is known to them, pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim.
As they ran, shots were fired, hitting the deceased.
Immediately, a search was launched for the suspect and at about 13:20, he was arrested at a farmhouse in the area. A 9mm pistol with rounds were also confiscated.
The suspect is due to appear before the Humansdorp magistrate court on Monday, 26 February 2024 on a charge of murder, possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
