Willowvale Regional Magistrates’ Court sentenced a 25 year old man, Sandiso Pikinini to undergo twenty five years imprisonment for murder and robbery. It is alleged that the accused went to the home of the 75 year old Bonisile Bixa with the intention of robbing his pension money.

The crime was committed at the home of the deceased at Tyelekebende Locality, Nqabarha Village, Dutywa on 19 March 2016 at about 22:00.

The deceased was fatally stabbed on his upper body and some of his belongings were robbed from him. The deceased was burnt after the being fatally stabbed. He was sleeping alone in his room while some of his family members were sleeping in their rooms.

Dutywa Police detectives investigated the cases thoroughly and arrested the accused. He was charged with murder and robbery as some of the robbed items were recovered from him.

The accused was sentenced on Monday, 29 April 2019 at Willowvale Magistrates’ Court for robbery and was sentenced to undergo ten years imprisonment and for murder he was sentenced to undergo 15 years imprisonment.

Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu has welcomed the hefty sentence imposed on the accused person. He praised the Dutywa Police detectives for their expeditious and professional investigation of the case.
