SAPS endeavours to prevent and investigate stock theft continues to yield positive results.

Twenty one (21) sheep were recovered on 9 July 2021, at about 20:30 which was stolen at Hlankomo locality in a combined intelligence driven operation supported by members of Crime Intelligence and the stock theft unit of Mount Fletcher.

Positive information was followed up during the operation and the 21 stolen sheep were recovered where they were hidden in the forest in the KatKop area. The legs of the sheep were tied up with cable ties.

The stolen sheep were positively identified as stolen from Hlankomo locality.

No arrest at this stage but all possible leads are being followed up as the investigation continues.

The acting District Commissioner Brigadier Rudolph Adolph commended the members on the recovery of the suspected stolen stock. “Stock theft remains a priority crime in our District and the sooner the stock is recovered the crime of selling the sheep is prevented.”
