Mount Ayliff shooting: 1 Dead, 2 critically wounded

The South African Police Service request the public to assist in finding the suspects who attacked three people and left one of them dead, whilst the other two were seriously injured on Tuesday 8 September 2020, at about 21:45, at Goxe-Mpheni locality in Mount Ayliff.

According to reports, the deceased 40-year-old had visited two of his neighbours aged between 23 and 28, which apparently was a normal practise among them. The report further suggests that neighbours heard gunshots and screaming in the direction of the place where the three people were sitting together. However, the suspects behind the shooting could not be identified.

As the neighbourhood went to investigate what was happening they discovered that one of the people was already dead, whilst the other two females were seriously injured.

The motive for the incident is currently not known. There is no arrest made at this stage. However, the police are investigating a murder and attempted murder cases.

The SAPS is requesting anyone who may have information in relation to the incident to please contact the nearest police station or call the Crime Stop number 0860010111.
