Stock losses affect the livelihood of farmers who solely depend on them for their income. On Sunday evening, 18 August 2019, at approximately 20:30, members of the Bell Community Service Centre received information about a vehicle travelling from Cross Roads which is on the R72 towards Lovers Twist on the R345.

There was reportedly transporting four cattle which were suspected to be stolen. Members on duty followed up on the information and stopped the vehicle on the R345.

During the preliminary investigation, the occupants could not furnish documentation for the transportation of the livestock and as a result they were arrested for possession of suspected stolen stock.

The cattle as well as the vehicle were seized. Four suspects, aged between 20 and 56 who have been arrested will appear in the Peddie Magistrate’s Court.
