Mdantsane police investigate murder, inquest, and attempted murder following shooting near Indoor Sports Centre at about 20:30 on the night of Saturday, 10 July 2021.
It is alleged that police were on patrol near Indoor Sports Centre when they heard gunshots not far away. On arrival they found a man dead with gunshot wounds, and one injured male also having gunshot wounds, both in their thirties.
Three men started shooting at the police and they retaliated. One of them was fatally wounded and the other apprehended with a gunshot wound to his leg.
The injured men were treated at a local hospital. It is further alleged that another man successfully fled the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are not clear at this stage, investigation continues.
