Acting Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, Major General Thandiswa Kupiso, has urged the community of Dalasile and surrounding areas to assist police in tracking down suspects linked to a fatal mass shooting in Mangweni location, Ngcobo. The incident, which occurred on the evening of 15 May 2025, claimed three lives and left two others injured.

According to police records, the attack took place at approximately 19:30 when two armed men stormed a home where five family members were mourning the death of a relative. Three victims, aged between 30 and 50, were fatally wounded, while the other two sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to hospital. The motive behind the attack remains unknown, but authorities are pursuing all leads.

Maj Gen Kupiso confirmed that police have mobilized full resources to locate the suspects. “We have assembled a team of seasoned detectives, who are already on the ground hunting for the suspects,” she said. “The police have mobilized their full resources to trace and speedily locate at least two suspects, who are believed to be involved in this heinous and terrible incident.”

The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit in Ngcobo is investigating three counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could aid the investigation.
