Walmer police is on the hunt for murder and attempted murder suspects who shot and killed one person and injured another in two separate incidents during the early hours of this morning, 26 August 2018.

It is alleged that at about 01:45, a 35 year old man was shot and killed while he was seated in his BMW vehicle. The man, from Sakhasonke Village attempted to drive away after the shooting however his vehicle stalled at about 50m from the corners of Goniwe and Qongqothwane Streets in Walmer location.

Circumstances surrounding the shooting is unknown and police are investigating a case of murder.

Also, not far from this incident, a 28 year old male was shot several times by unknown persons after he was allegedly dragged out of a tavern by the suspects. According to police information, the man alleged that he went into the crowded tavern at about 01:30 and was suddenly pushed to the floor by the suspects. The suspects started to assault him where after he was dragged outside and shot.

The suspects then ran away. The victim was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds to his shoulder, bum, thigh and chest. A case of attempted murder is under investigation.

Police are investigating the possibility that the suspects in the murder and attempted murder cases may be involved in both incidents. Police appeal to the community to assist them with any information relating to the suspects. Information may be communicated either voluntarily or anonymously.
