The Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga has expressed shock and dismay at the brutal murder of an 18 year old woman on Tuesday the 25th of December 2018 at about 6:00 in the morning at Qatywa locality in Elliotdale. She also sent her condolences to friends and family of the deceased.

According to the report, in the morning of 25 December 2018, the two had visited their grandmother at Nkanya village where the incident took place.

Information further reveals that the suspect was seen by a neighbour with his clothes full of blood stains. This prompted the neighbour to alert the community who responded by chasing after the suspect who disappeared into a nearby forest. The police together with the community conducted an intensive search for the suspect without any success.

A case of murder was opened at Elliotdale Police Station for investigation. The motive for the murder is currently unknown. No arrest has been made at this stage as the suspect is still at large.

The police are looking for Boy boy Ndayinjana also known as ‘cousin‘ as he is believed to be key in assisting speedy investigation.

The Provincial Commissioner has strongly condemned what she described as a vicious and heartless attack of the young woman. “It appears that other people do not understand the significance of having peace, unity and love within the families during Christmas. We shall not rest as the police until the culprit is arrested and made to face the law” Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga asserted.
