An intelligence driven operation resulted in the confiscation of a large amount of mandrax tablets and the arrest of three suspects at a house in Sinyane Street in Kamesh on the night of 27 November 2019.

At about 21:55, the Anti Gang Unit from Port Elizabeth acted on information and swooped in on the house. After searching the house, 1126 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R56 300-00 and R19 515-00 cash were confiscated.

Three male suspects between the ages of 26 – 59 years were arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs.

The suspects are due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court soon.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga commended the AGU members on squeezing the space of criminals. ”Crime has no boundaries and we, the SAPS will not be restricted when it comes to enforcing the law. We call on community members to stop turning a blind eye towards people who sell drugs in their neighborhoods. The drug trade is not a harmless or victim less crime. Drugs are destroying the very future of our society as our youth get addicted and go astray,” added Lt Gen Ntshinga.
