On 3 August 2016, K9 Unit members responded to an armed robbery at Zinyoka Location outside King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape at about 16h00.

On arrival they found a 24-year-old man in his shop. He was shot once in his lower body. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment in a stable condition.

Nothing was taken from the shop as the suspects struggled to enter because of security gates.

Thorough investigation led Police to arrest three males aged 18 years. Police recovered a Lorcin firearm and a magazine with no ammunition from the house at Tyutyu Village.

The trio will be charged with attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

They will appear at Zwelitsha Magistrate Court soon.
