Man shot, daughter 12, killed in Bethelsdorp home invasion
The decomposed bodies of two children were found tied and blindfolded in Soweto.

A 12-year-old girl was killed when armed men broke into a house in Bethelsdorp in the Eastern Cape and shot her and her father, police said on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the child was killed when men attacked the home at on Monday night at about 11pm.

“According to police information, the family was asleep when they heard loud knocking on their front door. The 43-year-old man refused to open the door and the suspects went around to the back of the house, kicked open the door and entered. The owner of the house was shot three times and wounded, while his 12-year-old daughter was shot once and died,” Naidu said.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

They are still trying to establish the motive for the shooting.

Naidu said: “SAPS condemns this attack and senseless killing of an innocent child in the strongest terms. All means possible will be used to thoroughly investigate this case and bring the culprits to book”.
