Man sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for murder

On Tuesday, 25 July 2017, Zukile ‘Rocky’ Dayimane (21) was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, 3 of which was suspended for 5 years on a charge of murder, in the Port Alfred regional court.

On 30 October 2016 at 04:30 the body of a woman was discovered behind Trappes Valley railway cottages. Upon further investigation it was established that the 26 year old deceased was assaulted the previous day by the accused, who had locked her in his room at the Railway cottages.

The severely battered victim succumbed to her injuries and died as a result of injuries sustained.

Upon realizing that the victim had died, the accused attempted to conceal the crime. He removed the body from his room and disposed of the body in bushes behind the homes.

The prosecutor, Mr Johann Carstens commended the investigating officer Constable Sivuyile Gobizembe (in photo) on the high standard of investigation and the professional compilation when the docket was presented at court.

He further added that the relationship between the investigator and prosecutor is extremely important to ensuring that justice is correctly served!
