Buffalo City District Police Commissioner, Major General Henry Vos has welcomed the sentencing of a grandson to an effective 24 years imprisonment on Thursday 22 April 2021, for killing his grandmother and uncle on 9 September 2020 at their NU5, Mdantsane home.

Sive Dubula (25) was sentenced by Judge Hartle of the Bhisho High Court to an effective 24 years direct imprisonment on count one for killing his granny, Kuku Bikitsha (76) and another 24 years direct imprisonment on count two for killing his uncle, Mongezi Bikitsha (59).

Furthermore, he was sentenced to 20 years for raping his granny on count three and 1 month for theft on count four. The judge made a ruling that count three and count four will run concurrently with count one and two, therefore Sive Dubula will serve a total of 24 years imprisonment.

Investigation by Warrant Officer Mncedisi Balitafa of Mdantsane SAPS detectives revealed that, Sive Dubula found his 76-year-old grandmother asleep at their Nu5, Mdantsane home on the night of 9 September 2020. He raped his grandmother and suffocated her to death with a pillowcase.

He proceeded to another room and found his 59-year-old uncle asleep and also suffocated him with a pillowcase to death.
