On 29 July 2020, between 11:00 and 12:30, the suspect attacked and fatally shot the three woman, aged 58, 66 and 72 and injured another (58) at their homesteads at Mbihli village, Palmietfontien area. The injured woman was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
Police are investigating the cases of murder and attempted murder. A 48-year-old suspect has handed himself to the police following the shooting of three women in Sterkspruit.
The suspect will appear at Sterkspruit District Court on three (3) counts of Murder and Attempted Murder.
The Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga condemned the attack and killing of the defenseless women. “Police will oppose bail in this case, this suspect must remain in custody until the finalization of the case,” she added.
