Detectives from the South African Police Service in Kamesh have launched a search for suspects who allegedly shot and killed a 42 year old man on 3 February 2019 at about 19:15 at his residence in Deco Street, Tamboville (Kamesh, Uitenhage).

It is alleged that the victim and his girlfriend were at their residence, when they heard a knock on the door. The victim opened the door and two males entered the house. The three men allegedly conversed for few minutes, after which there was a scuffle and a shot went off.

One of the suspects then approached the girlfriend, took her cellphone and ordered her to remain in the bedroom. They then took the car keys a maroon VW Caddy which belongs to the victim and drove off. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Uitenhage.

The victim died as a result of a gunshot wound to his upper body. The motive for the murder is unknown and detectives are following up on all possible leads.

The name of the victim will be released once the next of kin have been informed and formally identified.
