Alert police arrested a 32 year old man in the act of stealing inside one of the administration offices of the police station in Storms River. On Thursday 23 May 2019, at about 12:50, a member working at the Community Service Centre spotted someone on the CCTV monitor scaling a boundary fence at the back of the police station and immediately summoned other colleagues for assistance.

It is said that a suspect forced open a window and entered one of the offices in the administration block. It is said that a suspect was arrested inside the office busy disconnecting a computer. Police also recovered two memory sticks inside his pocket.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the memory sticks belong to a member who works at the police station. A 32 year old suspect is due to appear at the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on 24 May 2019, on charges of housebreaking and theft.

Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier John Lebok praised members for their alertness. “It is pleasing to see the alertness and state of readiness of members, when a criminal came knocking at their own backyard”, added Brig Lebok.
