A 36-year-old suspect was arrested following the murder of his girlfriend (35) in Katilumla shacks behind Lusikisiki town. The incident occurred on Saturday 7 August 2021 at 06:00 in the morning.
According to a neighbour, the couple fought with each other often and on Friday 6 August 2021 the neighbour once again heard them fighting during the night. When she went to check on them in the morning, she found the dead woman with several stab wounds.
She alerted the police while at the same time mobilising the community to start searching for the suspect. They found the suspect and handed him over to police.
The suspect is currently in hospital under police guard as he was severely assaulted by the community.
A case of murder is under investigation and the suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
