Centane Police arrested a 32 year old man for alleged rape of a 74 year old woman. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, 3 September 2019. It is alleged that the suspect went to the homestead of the victim on Monday, 2 September 2019, at about 11:20 at Khwane Locality, Qolora By Sea Village, Centane. The suspect allegedly demanded money from the victim. When he was told that there is no money, the suspect asaulted the 74 year old woman and raped her.
The victim was alone at the time but she managed to identify her attacker.
The suspect is due to appear before the Centane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 4 September 2019, on a charge of rape.
Eastern Cape Police Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga condemned the alleged rape of a 74 year old elderly woman. She applauded the Centane Police for their swift action in arresting the suspect.
