Vigilant police arrested a 31-year-old male in a Vehicle Control Point (VCP) on R72 Road between East London and Port Alfred on 19 July 2021.
Police conducted a VCP’s on R72 near Bell village when they arrested a 31-year-old male who was driving a blue Toyota corolla. The suspect was from East London direction to Port Alfred direction when he was stopped at the VCP’s and police asked to search the boot and he fled crossing the road to the bushes.
Police chased him and brought him back to his vehicle where two plastic black bags were found with three hundred and eighty seven (387) abalone.
The suspect was immediately arrested and an undisclosed amount of cash found in his possession was confiscated.
The suspect is due to appear at Peddie Magistrate court soon.
