Butterworth Police arrested a 44 year old man for alleged sexual assault of a 29 year old woman. It is alleged that both victim and the suspect are ex lovers. The alleged sexual assault was committed on Thursday 26 July 2018 at about 20:20 at Mazizini Locality, Cegcuwana Village, Butterworth.
Butterworth Police acted very swiftly after the case was opened as they traced and arrested the suspect.
The suspect will be charged very soon and will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate Court on Monday 30 July 2018 on a charge of sexual assault.
Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu condemned the violence and sexual assault of the victim. He praised the Butterworth Police for their swift action in tracing and arresting the suspect expeditiously.
