Team work at Walmer Police Station resulted in the arrest of three suspects aged between 19 and 26 as well as the recovery of suspected stolen property. Working together as a team can only have positive results. The recovery of the stolen goods and the arrest of suspects have a direct impact on crime and members are committed to address the crime in Walmer.

During an early hours suspect raiding operation this morning, 22 November 2018, at 03:00, members attached to Walmer Police Station raided a few houses in the Walmer Location and Airport valley and at one of the houses the members arrested three suspects and recovered suspected stolen property.

The one suspect aged 23 were arrested on a warrant of arrests after he failed to appear in court on an illegal possession of firearm case. This suspect was also linked through fingerprints to a house robbery that was reported on the 7 November 2018 in Villiers Road, Walmer where a 68 year old man Deepak Mamtani was badly assaulted and passed away in hospital due to the injuries he sustained during the robbery.

This suspect is also linked to other murders within the Walmer Location area. The second suspect aged 19 is linked to robberies within the Walmer area and the third suspect aged 26 was arrested on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.

Property recovered is cell phones, TV’s, computer screens, DVD’s and laptops. The members also recovered mandrax tablets. At the moment the members are busy processing the property to establish if they could be linked to other cases reported within Walmer area.

The arrested suspects will also be profiled in order to establish if they could possibly be linked to other crimes within Port Elizabeth. All three suspects will appear at New Law Courts Magistrate’s court on Monday 26 November 2018.

The Mount Road Cluster Commander, Major General Thembisile Patekile commended the commitment and dedication displayed by the members. Actions such as this shows that our members are committed to rendering a service to the community of Walmer.
